The conference is being organised by India Infrastructure Publishing, the leading provider of information on the infrastructure sectors through magazines, newsletters, reports and conferences. The company publishes Indian Infrastructure and Power Line magazines. It also publishes a series of reports on the infrastructure/energy sectors, including Mining in India, Coal in India, Ports in India and Airports in India.
The mission of this conference is to highlight new and emerging trends in the material handling systems market in India and discuss the emerging requirements across key sectors such as mining, containers and shipping, manufacturing, waste management, cement and, steel. The conference will also showcase new technologies and products, as well as best practices.
- Material handling systems have witnessed a widespread adoption across several key sectors, including power, coal, mining, ports and shipping, logistics, solid waste, cement and, steel, etc. These systems offer various advantages, such as faster, safer and more efficient movement of goods, saving time and costs.
- India’s growing logistics and supply chain sector is one of the key drivers of the material handling market. According to industry estimates, the Indian logistics sector is expected to reach over $445 billion by 2027-28, driving the demand for advanced material handling systems.
- The rapid expansion of the e-commerce and retail sectors and the rising demand for warehouse management will also drive the demand for material handling systems.
- The manufacturing ecosystem for material handling equipment is evolving. The market comprises a host of machinery, including conveyors, storage systems, forklifts, cranes, etc. These machines assist in simplifying or automating material storage, transportation, and retrieval.
- The Indian’s government growing impetus on local manufacturing through schemes like Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat is expected to boost the manufacturing of material handling equipment in the country. It is estimated that India’s material handling market will grow at a compound annual growth rate of around 9-10 per cent between 2022 and 2027.
- Digitalisation, focus on safety, higher efficiency and sustainability are the key themes that are dominating the material handling industry. The market is witnessing significant technological and digital advancements in design and engineering. Technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence and Internet of things, are enabling process optimisation. Meanwhile, smart and energy- efficient systems are gaining traction. Many automated conveyors can perform complex tasks like picking, packing and, labelling. without human intervention.
- While the demand for such solutions is set to grow with growing industrialisation, challenges such as high initial investment costs and high maintenance and operational costs have to be addressed.
