Mission:

The mission of the webinar is to highlight the progress of water utilities with regards to digital transformation, discuss the experience and challenges in technology adoption, and identify the new and emerging digital requirements of the water industry.

The water sector has experienced greater penetration of information technology in network management practices over the past few years. Water utilities have witnessed increased deployment of solutions such as smart metering, mobile applications, supervisory control and data acquisition systems, digital twins, remote monitoring, enterprise resource planning and sensors. There is also increased emphasis on building smart water supply infrastructure with centralised and automated operation and control.

This will be a 90-minute webinar, which will begin with the brief remarks by Ms D. Thara, Joint Secretary, followed by a technology presentation and a panel discussion.

The panel will share their views as suggestions/submissions for her consideration. This will be followed by a moderated Q&A. The panel will address the following questions/topics:

1)  What is the government’s view on the current state of the water sector?
2)  What is the status of key government programmes aimed at improving water supply infrastructure? What are the expected outcomes?
3) What are the key initiatives being taken by the ministry to increase the use of new digital solutions and technologies in the planning, execution, and O&M of water supply projects?
4) What are the government’s key focus areas for the sector going forward? How is the use of advanced technologies and digital solutions poised to grow in the coming years?
